      Greenblatt Library: The Historical Collections and Archives (HCA) has several atlases from the 18th and 19th centuries in our rare book collection, including Paolo Mascagni's Vasorum Lymphaticorum Corporis Humani Historia et Echnographia, which was published in 1787. Reese Library, Edmund Dulac's Picture Book, published on behalf of the French Red Cross in 1916.

      Reese Library's Special Collections MSS 025 (Cumming family correspondence) contains letters written by Thomas Cumming that date as far back as 1794. Greenblatt Library: Curtis G. Hames, Sr., M.D. was a native and life-long resident of Claxton, Georgia. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1944.

      Greenblatt Library: A Manual: Obstetrics by A.F.A. King, MD, published in 1889. The book belonged to Robert L. Miller, MD, who graduated from MCG in 1891. Reese Library: Rare copies of classic works of poetry and prose, such as John Milton's Paradise Lost.

      At both Reese Library's Special Collections and Institutional Archives and at and Greenblatt Library's Historical Collections and Archives, the records of the University are arranged by "record groups." This allows us to group similar records together, and to highlight sub groups within our larger record groups. Each record group is assigned a prefix, and a set of numbers.

      The oldest book in the Greenblatt Library's rare book collection is Gerald of Cremona's 1608 Latin translation of Avicenna's Canon of Medicine. Reese Library's Special Collections & Institutional Archives will be highlighting the multi-volume set of William Coxe's Travels into Poland, Russia, Sweden, and Denmark: illustrated with charts and engravings in honor of this month's focus on rare books from the Heritage Unit.
